The brief

English Heritage required a visual identity to promote their Summer Solstice livestream at Stonehenge, one of their biggest online events of the year. This involved creating a set of eye-catching assets, promoting it as a must-see event. Crucially, the designs needed to feel cohesive across social media, YouTube and the website, with a visual system that could be adapted for later livestreams.

My approach

Working with the content and social teams, I presented four initial concepts (below). We landed on a bold mosaic grid design that built on the previous year’s campaign with a fresh, festival-inspired look and feel. Initially designing the promotional graphics as static vectors in Adobe Illustrator, I built on the initial brief by adding eye-catching motion in After Effects. I also animated sequences for the YouTube livestream itself, including an opening title and an explainer animation showing how the Solstice works.

The result

The modular nature of the design made it easy to use across platforms and update for future livestreams such as the Winter Solstice, using alternative colour palettes and icons to reflect different locations and seasons while maintaining an easily recognisable visual identity. The addition of motion (below) brought the graphics to life, making the livestream far more engaging and memorable.
