Bringing solstice celebrations to a global audience with a flexible and evolving campaign identity

I developed a visual identity and set of digital assets to promote English Heritage’s Summer Solstice livestream at Stonehenge, one of their biggest online events of the year. The project required creation of a cohesive set of assets across social media and YouTube, with a celebratory feel that reflected the significance of the event. Working with the content and social teams, I presented four initial concepts with clear rationale to support the stakeholders' decision-making. We landed on a bold yet flexible mosaic grid design that built on the previous year’s campaign with a fresh, festival-inspired take.

Designing for motion, clarity and adaptability across channels

Once the campaign direction was approved, I created a suite of static and animated assets to promote the event across Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. I animated sequences in After Effects for the livestream itself, including an opening title and an explainer animation showing how the Solstice works, bringing storytelling and atmosphere to the digital broadcast. The modular nature of the design made it easy to use across platforms and update for future livestreams, supporting the internal team with assets that could evolve without reinventing the wheel. The visual style was repurposed for future events including the Winter Solstice, using alternative colour palettes and icons to reflect different locations and seasons while maintaining an easily recognisable visual identity.
